Every Friday after school, my grandmother Maybell McKie would pick me up and stop at the golden arches on the way to her house. Every bite of that hot, crispy apple pie fueled a passion that never left me.

Growing up in Washington DC during the Chocolate City era, I was surrounded by entrepreneurs whose pride showed in the quality of everything they made. That environment sparked my first baking business at 19.

With a recipe for a bean-based custard pie, a small savings account, and expert mentoring, I started Bakery Direct — delivering baked goods on demand long before UberEats existed.
